Jeremy will get a taste of the 4.075km long Balaton Park circuit for the first time very soon, as he takes to the track on Friday 25 July for an opening Free Practice session and then Superpole Qualifying. Superpole will determine his starting position of the first 18-lap race of the Championship’s eighth round.
Currently, Jeremy is eighth in the championship standings and had arguably his best round of the year last time out in Donington Park. He finished the two UK races in seventh and then eighth position, despite having to start Race One from 31st place on the grid.
Jeremy’s best individual race finish so far, a fifth place, came at a circuit he knows well from his time in the MotoGP paddock - Phillip Island in Australia - during the opening round of the 2025 championship.
Often showing strong and consistent pace in the races this year, Alcoba has often had to fight his way forward to try and get on terms with the leading groups. At Balaton, Jeremy will be particularly keen to make the most of the fact that none of his rivals will have any previous data or real race experience at this all-new venue.
The weekend schedule for Balaton Park sees both 18-lap WorldSSP races forming the final regular World Championship races, on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 respectively, with a local start time of 15.15 in each case.
The end of the eighth round of the championship in Hungary will herald the beginning of the traditional summer break. The riders and teams will have five free weekends before competitive action gets going again between 5 - 7 September, at the regular WorldSSP venue of Magny Cours in France.
Jeremy Alcoba stated: “Balaton Park Circuit is a brand-new track, but I’ve already taken on several tracks I didn’t know this season and have learned fast, so I hope I can do the same this weekend. The results were positive at Donington but they didn’t reflect our true potential, which I hope we can demonstrate in Hungary.”
