20 Oktober 2021 2022 Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-10RR: From A to Z

From its recently introduced aerodynamic package creating a maximum of 17% more downforce to the technical masterpiece that is the four-cylinder, water-cooled 998cc ZX-10R engine, the 2022 Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-10RR deliver a lexicon of performance technology from A to Z.

With two variants available for the coming season, the litre class Ninja “pit-box” comprises the road and track based Ninja ZX-10R plus the very much competition focussed Ninja ZX-10RR. While there are some notable differences between the two machines, the majority of class leading tech is shared by each platform delivering outstanding performance and technical features.

Common to both is full LED lighting and an aero package that includes integrated winglets for substantial additional downforce allied to a tall screen and adjustments to foot peg and handlebar position to help the rider tuck in and present minimal wind resistance at track speeds. With large TFT meter displays and Smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s newly updated Rideology App, the technical nature of these machines simply has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

In terms of electronic rider aids, KIBS integrated braking is standard fitment as well as an up/down quick-shifter, launch control, cornering management function and a state-of-the-art Bosch IMU offering precise control of sports style variable traction control plus selectable rider modes and engine brake control. There is even electronic cruise control and the option of heated handlebar grips such is the generous specification of these consummate supersport machines.

Braking on both models is taken care of at the front with M50 monobloc calipers acting on ø330mm rotors and both machines use the horizontal back link rear suspension system which is near identical to the set up on the machines fielded by the Kawasaki Racing Team in WorldSBK.

And speaking of racing, the Ninja ZX-10RR exudes performance with an impressive array of exotic items that all come as standard. These include lightweight Marchesini wheels and Pankl componentry covering connecting rods, pistons and piston pins. RR specific camshaft profiles feature as do special inlet and exhaust valve springs suited for sustained high rev use allowing the RR model to rev 400rpm higher than the standard ZX-10R. Add a single seat and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres and you have a machine that is ready to be converted for track use and able to make the podium its own.

Both proudly featuring the Kawasaki River Mark the colour options for 2022 will be Metallic Diablo Black/Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray or Lime Green/Ebony/Pearl Blizzard White for the Ninja ZX-10R and racing Lime Green for the Ninja ZX-10RR.
