5 MINUTTER MED BRYAN SMITH

Having been competing for over 14 years, American flat track racer Bryan Smith is a perennial front runner in the AMA Pro Racing GNC1 class. Using Kawasaki power, 2015 saw Bryan enter the X Games for the first time…taking a gold medal in the process!
“Last year was a really good year…but it was equally as frustrating! Winning five nationals and then a gold medal at the X Games is pretty special, and many racers would be happy but I must be a special kind of driven, or dumb, guy, as I want more. I’ve been the bridesmaid so many times in the series that nothing else really matters to me besides taking the overall Grand National Championship! It’s what I’ll be aiming for in 2016, I won a lot of races last year but my consistency needs to be a bit better.

Flat tracking is one of the oldest forms of motorcycle racing, it’s raw and gritty as riders navigate dirt ovals at high speeds. I’ve loved it since I was a kid, and being born in Flint, Michigan which is the home to many famous flat track racers it was around me from a young age. My parents gave me the opportunity to get into the sport and from there I’ve never looked back!

I first became involved with Kawasaki a few years back, I had won a few races with an EX 650 engine (Known as an ER-6 in Europe) so I got in touch with a contact I had at Kawasaki and fortunately they were interested in supporting flat track so have been helping since.

When I’m not racing, I love to spend time with my family and really enjoy being outside – whether that’s riding dirt bikes or working on my property. I don’t have any plans to retire, but when I do I’d like to stay involved in racing with the right opportunity. I’m also into real estate so I would like to continue that too.
