5 MINUTTER MED CHARLIE HISCOTT

As a Producer for Eurosport covering World Superbike, MotoGP, and British Superbike, Charlie Hiscott has been getting under the skin of the top racers for 16 years.
I guess it’s a dream job for anyone who loves racing, although my family may disagree! Of course there is a massive amount of travelling to be done but going to some circuits keeps you positive whilst others less so….

The track facilities at Silverstone are second to none, Qatar is actually good to work at as there are no motorhomes; so the riders can’t hide from us! We always look forward to going to Mugello and Phillip Island, fantastic atmosphere and beautiful places to visit. Of course some riders make the atmosphere as much as the track. When Rossi won at Assen recently it was incredible, or when Rea did the double at Imola- the fans went wild.

I think the best part of the job is interviewing the riders in Parc Ferme, you get their raw emotion, not some considered PR speak. Again Jonathan Rea is a really interesting character; he’s so honest,  has a nice positive outlook on life and always has time for the media.

I also get to do a track review before each WSB event with a top rider. I drive the special Alpha Romeo 4C but we don’t let the riders behind the wheel!

I also used to race myself. I rode a Ninja ZX-6R in UK Club Racing and I think having raced gives you an insight into bike riders and their mentality. My best riding memory is also Kawasaki related, I got to ride Chris Walker’s Ninja ZX-7RR (98) British Superbike at two UK circuits, Rockingham and Mallory. It was really special and so fast!
